Now that Desperate Dan's back on the cover and the black stripe's gone, I hope the weekly two celebrity pages quota can at last be abolished.

Strongest strips were Harry Hill, Rocky's Horror Show, the Bogies and Nuke Noodle. In the advert for next week in the back, it refers to "new George vs Dragon". Was that the George vs Dragon which was new last week, then? Or is something afoot?
1) Agreed, this week's was very good, a very funny issue which hit high in my own 'LOL' meter. ;)
The JLS story was the only thing that let down the side though. To be honest, I'd like to see the comic return back to the older style when Harry Hill had centre pages and Pre-Skool PM or My Own Genie (or maybe even Dan!), took up pages 4 and 5.

2) Postman Prat also had a good week, Bananaman, George VS Dragon and Pre-Skool Prime Minister also stood out to me as strong strips. Also they've been using the new thing for GvD twice now, it's just a way of suggesting that the strip is back in brand new adventures.

Also anyone notice the front cover this week? Desperate Dan not only had the front cover to himself, but the speech bubbles used were done in capitals! Something which has only recently been appearing in the Dandy (My Own Genie being in capitals also).

Thing is, months ago when jamie Smart brought back Sparky classic Thingummyblob, note that the first few strips were drawn way back in 2006 (Hence the characters having no noses)! This meant the speech bubbles were written in capitals but by the time they finally got printed the speech had changed to a computer font in mixed case. It seems with My Own Genie, this time they just wanted to leave it how it was, thank goodness.

I don't think anything's afoot, they're all new (i.e unpublished) George vs Dragon strips. The current batch are all ones I drew in late July/early August, and I'm currently working on some more now, which I assume will follow on directly when they've used up the stock they already have.

Cheers!

The revamp was certainly in production by this time last year and the final Xtreme was out.

What older style? Harry only had the centre spread for a few weeks, pages 4 and 5 is his usual spot, always has been.

Andy, don't take yanobandy's comments too seriously, some of his comments are perfectly fine, but others are trollish.

Okay, allow me to explain.

When Pre-Skool Prime Minister began his second run of 8 strips, it took centre stage pushing Harry Hill to the middle pages. After My Own Genie began, for a few weeks it too was on pages 4 and 5, then after about 3 strips of it, Harry Hill moved back to pages 4 and 5 leaving My Own Genie to feature on the centre pages.

Sorry, it's just that "Come on, don't be shy!" sounded a bit rude. It also sounded like you was replying to yourself, because you posted twice in a row. The EDIT button is there for a reason, please use it.

And kindly stick to the topic - this week's Dandy. We have always tolerated some topic drift (and always will) but we won't tolerate deliberate total tangents.

Just read this weeks Dandy and am quite happy. I assumed when I picked it up in the store and saw Take That on the front that we were going to end up with some story about them. I don't know quite why they are on the cover, but was happy to see that the only celebrities we saw were in the Harry Hill strip (which doesn't bother me too much) and of course the celebrix on the back page. I'm a bit unhappy to see the comic will be going up to £2.50 next week, but as I have recently put in a subscription, which will be starting soon, this shall not bother me too much and will of course help out with making some money back assuming they won't lose buyers who will not pay the extra.

I agree. I still feel that comics were better when they had a comic strip on the cover. The Beano still has this to some extent, as they use the front page for a picture of Dennis and Gnasher which is connected with the story for that week.
I agree with you on those strips. Although I'm not a huge fan of Postman Prat, as I find that each week can be quite different. Sometimes it'll be really good, other weeks not so good. Still, this weeks was good, as was George Vs Dragon. I enjoyed Desperate Dan again, but still, not a huge fan of the artwork used these days. As I've said before, I would love to see a lot of the characters going back to an older style, but of course, it's not likely to happen, as things have to move with the times.

Hello dudes and dudettes! A review for this week. Which of the drawings was yours in Mr Meecher, harry? George vs Dragon was funny with the Bonesmasher. (better not call him terry!) Bananaman had a great punchline! I dont know if Deal or Ordeal is a permanent strip, do you? Little Dermot O'leary had great humour in parts. Postman Prat was one of the best strips in weeks! Hil-ar-i-ous. And that's pretty much all!

I forgot about Deal Or Ordeal. Not a very good strip, I didn't think (completely forgot it when I was thinking about the celebs in this week). Would rather they used the page for something else, and kept the 'Are You Ready For The Question, Noel' strip, which doesn't take up too much space.
