Excellent! Some of that material is still funny even today, and the artwork is superb. Well done!

Not comics but yesterday I took delivery of five issues of The People's Friend from 1877. My oldest Thomson titles although the publisher is given as John Leng.

Also Kydd no. 6 arrived. I've been reading and rereading Alexander Kent's Richard Bolitho novels since the mid seventies and did a Google search for other historical naval fiction and came across the Kydd series. I've just finished no. 3. I've read all of the Aubrey/Maturin books by Patrick O'Brian and Dudley Pope's Ramage novels.

From its start, in 1869, 'The People's Friend' was published by John Leng. It was only after Thomson and Leng fully amalgamated in the 1920's, that it became a Thomson/Leng publication and then subsequently a solely Thomson publication in 1965.

They all have nice poems written in strong Scots dialect. On a different subject can anyone answer this question?

M.A.C.H. 1 was one of my favourite strips in the early years of 2000AD.
Is that the one that just came out this month? If it is, you are in for a treat.
Yep. Hopefully it'll come through the post tomorrow. :xfingers:
It came yesterday. A great read.

The Wikipedia doesn't recognise the name, Steve.

There certainly was a Fleetway comic character named Dumble Bumblebee in the early 1960's but as to whether Richard Dimbleby took legal exception to it I've no idea. I would have thought it unlikely though.

Just checked the details. 'Dumbell Fumbelebee and his loopy listeners the Lugg-Holes' appeared in Buster from the first issue in May 1960 and featured a madcap, roving radio reporter. Given that the strip ended when Radio Fun merged with Buster in Feb 1961 there doesn't seem to be any reason to suppose this wasn't a natural end rather than it being pulled suddenly for fear of litigation.

1966 Bunty Book for £2. Has the dust jacket but price is clipped. Also got 1959 Let It Rock single by Chuck Berry for £1 but it has the A side label on both sides. Price guide values the normal version at £25 don't know if label misprint adds to that.

Also got Simon & Garfunkles's greatest hits CD brand new and shrink wrapped for £1.

Can we get a pic of the half a million redskins on the warpath? I’m after that myself but can only ever find the one given away with one of the big five rather than Wild West Weekly.
