This week's issue Take 2

Re: This week's issue Take 2
I can't see their outfits being updated as long as Dave Sutherland is still drawing them.
I like the new BSK title panel, but why was there a ® next to the word Bash? It's odd that a strip title panel would have when when the comic's masthead doesn't.

I agree this is the only thing that should go...
The puzzle pages have been creative and good though..
Everytime you say a negative try and say something positive as well..

Re: This week's issue Take 2
Hmm, still no Beano today, annoying.
Have emailed DCT for a replacement.
edit:
got a reply today:
"Thank you for your email.
I can confirm this week's edition of The Beano was delayed in going in the post due to a production problem - all magazines were dispatched on Monday and we were asking customers to contact us if they have not received this issue by yesterday – if you have still not received this issue I can replace this for you today?
I do apologize for any inconvenience caused.
Kind regards"
So hopefully have this next week, wonder what the problem was?

Re: This week's issue Take 2
Well, got a plethora of stuff from the postie today!
Got the Dandy summer special that I couldn't get locally.
Also got the new D&G Megazine that I missed from the postie yesterday (this seems quite early for subs, no?)
And last weeks Beano as well as this weeks one. SPOILER: Wallace & Gromit are in this week, 3 pages
Nice...now to get a quick read before my sons take them all off to grannies for the night.
Dennis' comic stash this month, if you are interested is, again, disappointingly (SPOILER) a recent Dandy reprint, this month it's Bad Grandad

Re: This week's issue Take 2
I'm not sure that the D&G megazine was early. The next issue date at the back of the first one didn't match the recall date on the front. That recall date is this Tuesday. It would appear that it'll be out this Wednesday, 14th, and not 21st as advertised.

Re: This week's issue Take 2
Has the issue number disappeared from the Beano again? I know this is pretty sad but it's issue 3700 coming up and it looks like it wont have what issue it is on it.
Re: This week's issue Take 2
They've been gone from the cover for a few months. I noticed that this week's (the one currently in the shops) doesn't even mention the number of the next issue. Annoying, to say the least.

Re: This week's issue Take 2
My new Beano hasn't arrived yet...hopefully Monday!?
Re: This week's issue Take 2
Roger the Dodger has had some great artists in its time, but I always found it quite a dull strip with quite lame humour; I don't think it ever really made me smile or smirk. Jamie Smart has made it ... funny! I don't think it's ever crackled with fun like this before. Would any long-time Beano fans agree that he's transformed it and the strip is at its most amusing under him?
Re: This week's issue Take 2
Totally agree with you there Raven but it's hardly surprising. He pulled off the same thing with Desperate Dan in my opinion and I thought I was going to dislike that at first.

Re: This week's issue Take 2
I quite like the Beano recently. The only thing that slightly annoyed me (other than the lack of issue number) is the slebs (celebs) on the front cover and in the funsize funnies. The numskulls on the other hand is some of the best stuff in the comic at the moment although it does have slebs in it. It will be interesting to see if the numskulls is only about slebs or if they start to feature the numskulls inside Beano characters or numskulls inside numskulls.
I quite like the new strips Ninja Turkeys is good but it looks quite out of place with it's few but very large panels. William the Conqueror is alright nothing spectacular but it's well drawn although I'd have preferred to see Tricky Dicky remain. I thought it was going to be some sort of serial with the headteacher getting ever closer to finding out who Tricky Dicky is. El Poco Loco is also good like most of Jamie Smart's work. Wallace and Gromit is also good with artwork by that guy who was the final artist for Fred's Bed, a strip which I quite miss and was pretty good under that final artist.
It's nice to see Gnasher's Bite gone that was one of my least favourite strips. I quite liked the Calamity James reprints so I am miffed they are gone. The Bananaman reprints were growing on me but sometimes they just confused other times they were pretty decent but the new Bananaman is alright.
The funsize funnies is the comic's nadir most of it was utter rubbish but Danny Diddly O'Donaghue had good artwork and Coronation Bleat, High School Moozical and Watch-hog were okay. The funsize funnies have quite a bit of potential but they are let down by unfunny jokes.

Re: This week's issue Take 2
Watch-Hog's joke this week was predictable (a complaint about a postie, of course the pig would call on his canine friend to deal with him) but the artwork was decent, the postman's reaction is priceless.
I do wonder if Gnasher's Bite is really gone. It appears to have been pre-empted by those Dr Martens adverts. And Barrie Appleby contributed four pages to the second D&G Megazine, so he's not gone completely.
Tricky Dicky was good, but contradicts the continuity in the other strips, as Terminator was the Headmaster, supposedly of Bash Street School... but they already have two Heads, the one established in BSK, and Mr De Testa, introduced in the 2009 Dennis cartoon and who appeared in the two most recent Billy Whizz episodes. That continuity error was major enough that it's axing was unsurprising. De Testa can be explained as replacing BSK's, but Terminator doesn't fit in the equation at all.

Re: This week's issue Take 2
I doubt they'd cancel it just because of some silly concern over continuity. If they really wanted to they could just fit in with the current continuity or just carry on regardless and maybe instead of explicitly setting it in Bash Street School set it somewhere else like Blob Street School or just make no mention of what school it takes place in.
