Incidently, anyone trying to get the Misty special should get themselves to Lakeside tomorrow; Smith's there had about a dozen Misty's on display, but no Busters!

Yes, but with lots of pages missing/front cover on the inside, etc. in some cases! Perhaps people can check to see if any of these rogue copies have appeared elsewhere.

they are both good reviews and give different pictures..
just Lew had pictures of what was inside that got me excited..
at Buster website review its good you did feel disapointed that the 1980's were not inside after you asked us to do a survey..though its quite nice its the early 70's only...maybe they'll do an eighties version another day..
As yuo say Tom Thug and Jack Edwards Olivers work was sadly missed in this issue..
I view Tom Paterson very highly with Leo Baxendale so its great they are both inside..

Yes, they've pitched it at the 40 plus nostalgia market so it's only Seventies material (specifically 1975/76). Tom Thug didn't come into Buster until 1988 and I think Jack's work started appearing around 1980 or so? (I stopped reading Buster from about 1975 to 1981.) I'm sure they did their research and found that to be best target audience. Perhaps Titan's Best of Buster collection will cast its net wider if it ever sees print.
Titan don't own any of it - they work under licence, just like Aurum did when they reprinted those Dandy, Broons and Oor Wullie annuals a few years ago. IPC own most pre-1970 material, Egmont most of the post-1970 stuff, Look and Learn Magazine Ltd bought the preschool material from IPC in 2006 and The Dan Dare Corporation owns the character they were named after.
The Buster special is still not in Glasgow City Centre (or the 2 main train station stores) wef from Saturday 12 December and not in Hamilton, East Kilbride or East end Glasgow either. Which is a pain as every other special was in on the day stated up here - typical this is the only edition that I was really intertested in as well - hope its not been lft of the list.
Picked my copy up in the Wigan branch of WH Smith yesterday. There were 6 on the shelves, located near the 2000AD/Marvel & DC reprints/sci-fi mags, which is where Battle and Misty were also shelved. (Roy of the Rovers was, sensibly, with the football mags.)
They do seem to have ordered fewer and fewer issues each time - though last week they still had plenty of Misty left so, as Lew said, they probably saw sales dwindle for Misty and reduced the orders for Buster accordingly. Silly. (But understandable.)

With a bit of luck they'll interpret my persistant calls to their branch as massive demand for the issue and sort their act out!
I can only hope Egmont receive some financial compensation for this appalling service, as retail giants are swift to fine publishers when they make mistakes (wrong bar code etc).
