Nice artwork, Steve: definately inspired by Malcolm Judge, and a very nicely-finished piece. Sorry I can't help with this caption.

A big thank you to everyone who helped me with the Photoshop inquiry I put in earlier------I simply have to take the plunge soon.

Just drew billy on paper, so i decided to scan it and trace it in flash:
Image
Some of the outline in billy wasn't so great, as i thought i was using the paintbrush tool but i was using the pencil... >.<

Just an idea if you make the shadow longer going off to the left it will look better..
it will give the impression of speed..the shadow can't keep up with Billy.. :)

I like how Billy's fists are clenched, like he is happily anticipating a punch-up, young Freddy!

yeh :D

I'll hopefully post up some better ones later, as i've already hand drawn 'roger the dodger' and 'oddball with nobby'. all that needs doing now is to trace them with the computer software :)

I'm trying out colour application in cartoons myself, young Freddy, and it's a real 'learning curve', chucked-in-at-the-deep-end job. So we're all learning together......look forwards to seeing more of your stuff.

That´s a good drawing of Billy, but one thing I´d suggest is that the view of one of his shoes should probably be of the sole rather than from above or from the side. If you look at every version of Billy (except in Nick Brennan´s earliest strips where his trainers were totally plain and very basic, although he quickly made them a bit more detailed) then generally when he´s running you´ll see at least one of his shoes from the sole. You can see this in my own drawing of Billy which I use as my avatar on here.

Personally I don't think billy was anywhere near my better work, Just seems to be a bit scruffy... >.<
Hopefully my ivy is better: Image

It´s from the first frame of a Billy Whizz strip that I drew a while ago. I drew it by hand (in Vic Neill´s Whizz style as you noticed) but it was coloured in MS Paint.
