I like his work a lot.....
Great at the exaggerated human and animal figure.....bodys, legs and faces..all out of proportion in funny ways....one of the girls in Robot Gran looked like a Gorilla with her arms dragging along...
also cars...trains...extending out...and wobbling along..
every panel was filled with over the top action......comics should do this more....
comparing my work to his......I like doing exaggerated and over the top ideas but my drawings are simple and rounded.....we can all learn from him..
his work really stood out......

he must have been a political artist at a guess.and good at caricatures..

Ian is indeed a political cartoonist, still working away in Belfast.

His style is excellent. I used to look forward to his work in Buster, (along with Jack Oliver's work then too) around 1981. A high point in the comic's run I thought.

I think he works for the Irish News, but my memory could be faulty! A collection of his cartoons came out a couple of years ago.

Strawbelly, the scarecrow was another one of his from Buster at the beginning of the 1980s. Probably partly due to Wurzel Gummidge, Ian Knox's drawings gave the strip a bizarre look. He did some fab cartoons of the animals (Cows; Shortcake the fox and others) and Strawbelly's nemesis Lord Fyffe Bananna, whose head was in some unusual poses.
