You are right, those old Fleetway library comics did/do look great but were always hard to find even back in the late sixties, I know, I tried. They have a kind of old pulpish look to begin with. Were they reprints of collected stories from the weekly Lion and Valiants or new stories?

They were new stories, The stupendous series only featured The Spider and Steel claw alternately thoughout 1967 I think they may have come out every 2 weeks up to issue 26.

I've never actually seen a copy of these, I guess they're the size of the Commando comic.

Come then Karl tell us about them, what size are they? are they in colour? etc.

Where did you get them from? ebay? or did you buy them when they came out?
I would love to get hold of them.

They also had the Secret Agent Series - Johnny Nero

They had card covers and had 132 pages as it says on the cover. The size of Commandos. There was a War Series (Frontline)featuring Maddock's Marauders and Sgt Ironside-Yellow title.Secret Agent featuring Johnny Nero and Barracuda Red title and The Blue Ones (Fantastic and Stupendous)Steel Claw and the Spider. There was usually a long story with the title character and a short story in each.

Have had most over the years and sold them on eBay.They weren't that good to be totally honest. They tended to drag. The writers seemed to struggle to keep the pace going beyond the standard length.and really are not worth the prices they fetch

Thanks brisey.
I would still like to get hold of a few of them. the Secret Agent ones only go for a few quid.
I also know that The Fantastic Series only lasted for issue 1 and 2 and all issues from 3 onwards were named the Stupendous Series.
