Beautiful.I'm a great fan of The Dandy;unlike the Beano it never went down hill in pandering to modern tastes.Into The Abyss wrote: ↑05 Oct 2024, 22:22Forgot to mention. Had delivery of a very nice Fireworks issue of the Dandy comic no.519 from 1951 in FN condition.

Thanks jim244. It's a beauty. And yeah, I agree. When you have a formula that's served you well since 1938 never change it.jim244 wrote: ↑05 Oct 2024, 23:07Beautiful.I'm a great fan of The Dandy;unlike the Beano it never went down hill in pandering to modern tastes.Into The Abyss wrote: ↑05 Oct 2024, 22:22Forgot to mention. I see on ebay there is a 1989 version but the contents are identical, just has a different cover.jim244 wrote: ↑05 Oct 2024, 23:05A bargain Sir and I also have this, flintstones etc,a great collection of fun cartoon comics.stevezodiac wrote: ↑05 Oct 2024, 19:54Picked up The Hanna-Barbera Fun Book (1983) for £1 in Deptford Flea Market today. 192 pages of US reprints. Came across my copy of Buster number 1 at the weekend. Scared to put it on ebay in case buyer complains of non receipt and I have to refund them. Losing money and comic. There are people who do such a thing and ebay gives them the benefit of the doubt.

Which reminds me that Buster reprinted a miniature version of Buster #1. You cut it out from Buster each week and folded the pages to make a complete copy of issue 1 (but black and white). I have a copy somewhere.

Re: What comics did you buy today?
It costs peanuts to send it tracked. I do it every week for £100s of comics and never had a problem. Funnily enough, the only issues I’ve ever had is over the 99p comic I’ve occasionally sold on eBay!stevezodiac wrote: ↑07 Oct 2024, 17:20Came across my copy of Buster number 1 at the weekend. Re: What comics did you buy today?
Stevezodiac, as this is a high value comic you should send it track and trace. Photograph each page and include it in the listing. You could either sell it yourself or sell it via Phil Shrimpton who I often use, he seems to attract high bids and has a great reputation.stevezodiac wrote: ↑07 Oct 2024, 17:20Came across my copy of Buster number 1 at the weekend. Re: What comics did you buy today?
Hi Stevezodiac, as you probably remember the miniature Buster was printed as a cut-out section over several weeks to commemorate the 21st Birthday starting May 30th 1981. I remember cutting this out of my copies when new but my brother who used to buy comics for me missed one issue so I didn't get to complete it at the time. In recent years I have managed to get a full 1981 run of Busters with the mini 1st issue comic sections still intact.stevezodiac wrote: ↑07 Oct 2024, 17:23Which reminds me that Buster reprinted a miniature version of Buster #1. Re: What comics did you buy today?
I got some more old DC Jimmy Olsen from 60s and 70s plus issue 1 of Superman Family.
The great thing about issue 1 of Superman Family is that it continues the numbering from the Jimmy Olsen title so issue 1 is actually issue 164.
This makes it less obvious and therefore cheaper !!
Also got some Tomorrow People paperbacks from the 70s, a Look -in I needed from 1972 (I am just SO CLOSE to completing the first Look-in decade !!) and another Bullet comic for my Bullet collection that is getting closer to completion.

Re: What comics did you buy today?
The question I ask myself is that after I complete the first decade, Do I collect further Look-ins?
Everyone knows Look-in is only really great with picture strips and covers up until 1980.
I collected 1981 because I wanted the rest of the Buck Rodgers strip.
However, I am aware that there are great strips after, Robin of Sherwood, Terrahawks, Magnum.....
I'm not sure but I may go forward to 1985.
