Classic adventure strip fans... just received my latest subscriber issue which features the last episode for now of The Hammer Man but...

..next month sees the start of one we've probably all been looking forward to....

Loving seeing the adventure strips in Classics... only problem is the 'flow' of the strips is tricky to follow with one episode per month... I would love to see a companion title launched which featured just the adventure strips ... Classic Adventure Comics.....

That's a good idea, but you'd need four episodes of a story in each issue to keep the original pace, which would be between 8 and 12 pages per story. Even if they did launch such a title, they'd probably use fewer episodes of each story in order to offer more variety.

Speaking of which, it would be good if Egmont did a Classics From The Fleetway Comics, in the same format as the existing DCT title. Neither are likely any time soon.

Eh? It's been out all year as a quarterly. A more regular edition depends on how well Egmont Classic Comics sells I suppose. Are you buying that? The Misty issue came out last week.

I know that, but those are single comic based ones! Anyway, once Buster comes out, I'm not aware of any more. I meant one with a mix of them all, like CFTC is.

They did that idea to death years ago with Funny Fortnightly etc. Focusing on one comic might be a better option, but if people don't buy them, they won't continue. Same logic applies to those reprint books. The Commando collections did well, and were continued, the Steel Claw and Spider books presumably didn't fare so well and we never saw second volumes. If people want such projects to continue they have to support them.

There are a few goofs in this month's edition. Did John Dallas ever draw Saucy Sue, because all the ones I remember reading were by Dave Gudgeon?

There were a few mistakes, but I don't think Sue was one of them.

Ball Boy's date is wrong, it says 1976, but Dallas only started drawing that in 1989 - I assume 1996 is the correct date.

Jonah's spotlight says he was in The Beano, The Dandy, The Hornet, and The Buddy. But Buddy didn't use the The prefix.

Snobbs and Slobbs - 1982 Dandy? Should be Nutty.

Desperate Dan 1978 - impossible, he was reprints in that era. Probably 1960s.

Nice to see a Captain Cutler and his Butler double-pager from a 1972 Sparky in the new issue; one of the most imaginative Thomson strips of the '70s, I think.
