Comics UK

Ok not the normal thing most comic fans would even consider but I need to get rid of some of my old comics as they are cluttering up my house. Obviously I have sold some of the better ones and will be loking at putting others on Ebay at very reasonable prioces soon. However, I still have around 1000+ (mosty US but a fair amount of UK) comics that no one seems to want. I put a list on here ages ago (got rid of 10) and in the local papers but got no takers. I even took a large box to 5 charity shops in my area but they only took some UK annuals and said "thanks but they don't have the space for comics" (and that kids don't buy them when they used to take them!!!). Daft as it sounds I hate the idea of binning these - has anyone any ideas ?

Do you have any 1973 Buster & Jets?

I actually may have one in amongst that lot - I should add that most are US and from the late 70s todate

How about going to Paisley, Lochwinnoch or wherever. I doubt their charity shops are so picky. Otherwise, hospitals or dentists.

If I was in the area, I'd certainly always want a few free comics. Must be a load of folk feeling the same.

Failing that - a no reserve auction on eBay for a load of comic books from the 1970s. A few pics of some of the best should see them sold.

Reread his post. He said they range from the late 70s to present day. Advertising them as a job lot of 70s comics would be misleading.

You could pop your list up again.....I don't recall having seen it and am on the lookout for Busters.

I've often wondered how Boot Sales do.....have been considering for some time taking my duplicates off to one to see if they'll clear.

I actually live about 9 miles from GLasgow in Hamilton (smaller than but similar to Paisley I suppose re charity shops) but a really good idea to go to smaller towns like Lanrak etc will also look at the option of a bulk sale and will put some titles on here again (Steel I will look out the Busters I have and get back to you Sunday if that sok off to Edinburgh Festival today) .Thanks again all good ideas (Its an emotional link to my comics I just can't bin them)

Keep an eye out for new charity shops opening... especially on the sites of old shops that are closing (some "alternative clothing" store in Cambridhe went and was replaced by an RSPCA shop recently). They will be after anything and won't be so picky.

Or as somebody said seperare by decade and stick on ebay as cheap "misc 70's comics", "misc 80's comics" etc.

Steel - Sorry I don't have any 73 Busters and Jets in that batch of comics (ie the ones I want to get rid off) but I do have some in my colletion that I was going to sell on Ebay (it was a 1978 Bust I had in my "bin" collection - not in great condition)

Darn thought I had found the 15 Dec issue you were after but was 15 September sorry. I'll keep an eye out for them for you. For some reason a lot of old 70's Busters appear now and then in Glasgow shops - had a read at that issue was a good comic didnt realise the name Buster and Jet stayed around so long, I have it in issues dated early 71
