Hi Everyone,

You might remember me as one of the IPC artists who also did a bit for D.C.Thomson comics in the days of yore.

Thought you might like an update on my latest activities. I've illustrated many pages for school textbooks, mostly black and white worksheet-type drawings. Lots of puzzle book pages, also in black and white. Many puzzle book covers in full colour, of course. Illustrations for The Cambridge University Press for the UK and Spain. Illustrations for The World Health Organisation in Geneva.

My latest venture has been doing cartoon animations for an iPhone game called Cent Hope and here is a link if you'd like to see a trailer for it on YouTube:

I love doing these little animations and I'm just starting to work on my next game.

Delighted to have you here, Trevor: we all remember you very well indeed, along with your contemporary and amigo Bob Nixon.

I remember 'Dough Nut and Rusty' from Monster Fun' back in 1975, and funnily enough we were discussing the fact that you drew the 'Babes and the Bullies' for DANDY in 1969 on here fairly recently.

Welcome, Trevor. I grew up a fan of your IPC work; always instantly recognizable - I especially used to like Ad Lad, Birdman and Chicken, and Damsel in Distress as a little 'un!

Thanks for your post. I've had a look at your cartoons, nice clean lines/style.
The only criticism I have refers to the Glass Eyes Supplies strip. You don't need the three pictures to tell that gag, only the first and last, the latter to include the text in frame two. Other than that, very well done.

Ah, I see what went wrong here. Seems the url didn't auto-parse thanks to the color BBCode. You shouldn't bother using color code with links, since the link overrides the colour anyway.

The 'glass eyes' strip was me trying to 'shoehorn' in a bit of personality in the first two frames: a bit too much of a crush, I agree! The modern trend is to get the point accross in as few frames as possible: many modern strips just have one panoramic frame, of course! I do these as well, but I reckon this method is overdone these days. I try and put out strips of variable format, up to four frames at most.

Your welcome advice has been noted, of course!

Any chance of providing a link to the newspaper strip you done with Bob Nixon around 1973, Trevor: 'the Gems' which ran in the Sun newspaper?

I haven't seen this since first time around!








POSTSCRIPT: I found your video, Trevor: nice concise artwork. The technology is a million miles removed from the old-style comics-inking we associate you with, but full marks for adapting to the opportunities of the 21st Century, and your style still shines through, especially in the design and execution of the central boy character.

Count me as another one who remembers your strips very well (as a reader of strips including Sweet Tooth, Birdman and Chicken and many others during the 1970's and early 1980's), and welcome to the forums

As you can see I've gone into the art market now...drawing animals and things are going well...got quite a few small shops selling my cards now..
All the ones below are very recent...been on a roll recently..
Farnham library nearly signed up...find out soon..very likely..dropping off my card stand tomorrow sadly Kim's bookshop Chichester wants a break from my cards at least I've found a new home..
White Cabbage in Midhurst going tomorrow to sell some cards for her to sell..
Manns of Cranleigh department store..still waiting for my first cheque..
A Forge in a village still hoping they sell something one day.. one Month on
Shabby Chic in Chobham just this week..

So its tough But making progress...do craft fairs as well..

Birdman and Chicken was my favourite strip in my favourite ever comic...Krazy. Like all the greats, you have an instantly recognisable and 'fun' style. I'm pleased to see you're still scribbling, and I'll check out the app!
