SOLAR WIND (SPOOF IPC/FLEETWAY/DC THOMSON 1970S COMIC)

If you haven't heard there's anew occasional comic out. Solar Wind - edited by super-editor Beta Ray (well Paul Scott really). As well as spoof stories reminiscent of the 1970s (such as the character who will die unless he wins every race - be it a marathon to egg-&-spoon - Last of the Harkers meets Death Wish?) there's also adverts for other comics like the Torper - and every issue comes with a free gift!
Rated a 9/10 by Comics International! It won't be readily distributed, so if anyone wants a copy, give me an email and I'll order one in.
It's a massive 52 pages and sells for between ?3-4

Cost is GBP 3.50 and includes the free gift - a digital space spinner (or a CD-R to mere mortals).
Normally, I'd say send an email to
enquiries@superherostore.co.uk or
superherostore@hotmail.com to order (when the shop opens in September there will be an order form - I'll also be accepting PayPal and NoChex then but until then just cash/ cheques). As my business address isn't set up until later this month, I'll tell you where to send the money.
There'll be quite a few more interesting British comics coming soon in the small press, so keep watching

Hey there, I am a lowly drone working for Solar Wind
"Yesterday's Comic, Today, at Tomorrow's Prices!"
Some call it a spoof comic of late 70's/early 80's british kids comics. I however, under instructions from Cosmic Ray instead claim it is chrono-imported from our present, the past, into the Future (your 'now').
It Features the editor Cosmic Ray (we don't like to talk about Beta Ray, that was a nasty incident), his creative androits and drones and his loyal army of readers, the Cosmic Rayngers.
In the first issue there are comic strips such as DeathRunner, DeathSquid, The Dying Game (a secret agent who must die every week in order to stay alive), The Stinging Death (Britain has been invaded by ten foot high walking stinging nettles and young Billy Croggins does his bit to help conquer... The Stinging Death!), DeathSphere (The Future Sport of the Future) and much much more...
Now this may look like a plug for money (I say, yes please) but we are also looking for contributors, this can be ideas, scripts, features, spoof adverts and we are always after artists. The first issue has had a very good reaction and we are currently working on Issue 2 (girl comics try to take over Solar Wind) and Issue 3 a joint (War/Christmas theme) both of which feature the usually action adventure SF as well.
If anyone is interested, feel free to e-mail me, or join the Yahoo group for Solar Wind.
All the best
Paul

Pretty Damn Cosmic! Solar Wind was recommended to me by Andy at Books & Comics in Middlesbrough and it is a very funny spoof/homage of 70s comics like Valiant, Victor, Action and - especially - 2000ad and its family. Some of the art is a bit juvenile but Matt Timson has real talent. Cosmic Ray holds the whole thing together well and there's real affection for the original comics in here. And Frazer Irvine too? Worth ?3 for the frisbee alone. Recommended.

Cheers Stig! Really pleased you like the comic, we're working on the second one as I type (well, after I've finished typing this) which should be on sale at Winterfest Comics Convention in London, November. We're considering going quarterly after this issue, we'll see though! Basically we need all of the support we can get. There is a forum to chat about Solar Wind here (along with a few other small press titles):
