I have about a dozen MMWs from the 1930s - just a question of finding them among my vast collection. They are tabloid sized so not easy to scan.

But what name?

Reading the book in Oxfam Alan Clark the artist drew them in the 30's until another artist took over I think 1939 because the artist couldn't draw Mickey in the new style..
the covers had British themes like the boat race...firework night..etc...

Denis Gifford might have the artists name...I'll check..

There's five in the Comics UK Gallery, but only one from the period you're asking about: http://comicsuk.co.uk/gallery.php

Have you ever considered using punctuation in your posts? :) Was Alan Clark the artist who drew Mickey Mouse in the 30s?

Found the artists name in the inyernational book of comics Denis Gifford page 52
Wilfred Haughton painted the covers..

http://www.lambiek.net/artists/h/haughton_wilfred.htm

Haughton drew his final Mickey Mouse Weekly cover in 1940 (for Weekly 229)

Basil Reynolds took over who was also great at drawing the covers..he also drew in the comic Skit, Skat and the Captain..

Wilfred refused to update the look of Mickey from barnyard look to the clothed Mickey..

I have a couple from the late 40s early 50s and the size was a bit smaller then. More like Sun and Comet sized.

There were some beautifully painted covers in the late 40s and early 50s (the best of the lot imho), but those weren't by Reynolds or Haughton.

I don't know where my MMWs are. I went through a crate last night (comics not beer) and they weren't in it - another dozen crates to go. (Those stackable plastic crates from Tesco which fold flat - ideal tabloid comic size).
