There's an article in todays Times newspaper by Jonathan Ross about British comics. I don't have the newspaper, and I'm not paying to read it online , but here's the photo of it that 2000AD shared:
Does anybody have the newspaper that they could scan to read the whole thing? I see he listed Whizzer and Chips as one of his top five comics, which is of interest to me of course, but I'm surprised Wham, Pow or Smash isn't in there.

I got it. Give me time to scan it though. It should be done at some point today

OK, here it is I add to divide it in sections Im afraid as I couldn't fit the entire page on my scanner. I hope it's readable

I saw this in the library yesterday, but as soon as I seen it was penned by Jonathan Ross, I turned the page pronto....it remains unread by me at least.

It's a shame you didn't read it Rab, because it's not the least bit smug or smarmy. He speaks as a true enthusiast of comics, not as his TV chat show persona.

It's possible the copyright holder might have wanted too much for the use of images of their comics, so no comics owned by them are shown in the article.

Beano, dated? I'm guessing he hasn't seen any recent issues then. Some comics aficionado he is. He should keep up to date with developments! They've made a lot of effort to modernise in the last couple of years.

He says "dated but delightful". Sounds like a quite affectionate comment to me. The dated part is perhaps a reference to the traditional character designs of The Beano rather than a criticism.

I'm surprised you didn't notice that he said 2000AD was launched in the early 1980s, when it actually came out in 1977.

Jonathan is a genuine comics fan, and if you ever saw his wonderful documentary In Search of Steve Ditko, you'd know that he's a great ambassador for the medium. His love of comics shines through every time he talks about them.

Sounds an interesting article, but I cannot read it.

I can't and won't touch anything that's got Jonathan Ross' name on it - even if he is an expert on comics.

Am disgusted any media lets this man near (couldn't he have written under a false name?).

I've boycotted him since 1991 and his disgusting behaviour and mouth on Comic Relief night. Should've got a lifetime ban from telly, but now stands for much that is wrong with it today (and I try to have some morals).

Is it me or is Roger Mellie a little too real today?
