Merry Christmas

Post by colcool007 »

As it is now 13 minutes past the witching hour where I am (and for Mr Millie), Merry Christmas to Comicsuk and all that sail in her. God Bless You All and may Santa have been good to all of you. :)
I started to say something sensible but my parents took over my brain!

I would just like to take this opportunity to wish you [yes, YOU!] all a delightful and enchanting day, on behalf of myself and various 'SPARKY' characters from my youth:

I concur. A very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all.

My New Year Resolution is to spend more time on the Website now things this end have quietened down a lot. This year started with good intentions and a lot of work got done on V2 in the early part of it. But from August, I'm afraid, other things just took precedence and no quality time was spent on the site.

So thanks to everyone who has been keeping the Forum nice and lively with some excellent discussions, posts and scans :notworthy:

Have a good one this year and I vow to get V2 up and running this year.

Just saying "Hi Chums!" it's my first posting on this site and I hope to share my comics `memories` with any who care to `listen` My era was 1960-70 with the Dandy my favourite comic! (never really got to like the Beano that much!) loved the 1969-72 Sparky era. Re older comics it was Wham, Pow & Smash and those combinations of Loin & Thunder & Valiant & Smash 1971-73

As a teenager i lost my comic collection in 1973 when we moved house and I wasn't allowed to keep them! Have clawed back some via E.Bay & book fairs-but as i'm sure everyone on here knows-it can be expensive! Alan.
A Face unclouded by thought.

sounds like you've found your spiritual home, anultron: Hope your stay will be enjoyable, and welcome to the forum............I also lament the lost comics of my youth [we had a coal fire during the 60s/70s and 'mater' insisted this was the fate of my 'disposable' comics;] I'm doing what I can to redress the balance, however...........

But nothing can equal what Dennis Gifford had to endure. I think he was an evacuee during the war (like my parents) and returned to find his mum had given his comic collection up for scrap. Many 30s first editions included. Sob!

My sister ripped one of my TV21s in half around 1969 in revenge against me. I still have the two halves.

your sister's wrath extended a full 4 decades, Steve........regarding DENIS GIFFORD, he lost all his comics, but ultimately ended up with his home stacked to the rafters with comics.

Definately ahead of his time, old DENIS done much to keep the torch burning in the pre-web days.
