Notice how Phoenix doesn't tell us how 'former' this Miss Liverpool was. We may be
talking a Sunset Boulevard Gloria Swanson/William Holden affair here.

While we are in a whimsical mood here's my chance to show my Millwall passes and mugshots from 1978-1982. i have searched high and low for these since getting my stuff out of storage and finally found them on Saturday. I was a Mod in those days. I have very fond memories of travelling the country with the Millwall faithful.

I'm in a quandry. Scottish but living in Egypt. Both arch-enemies play each other, so who to shout for?

I'll quite happily smile if Algeria lose but England's the bigger rival to me, so come on the Desert Foxes!

There's some football match on tonight? In that case I'll definitely stay in, - to avoid it. (Pubs full of people in red shirts shouting at televisions last Saturday.)

Oh what a surprise a Scot not supporting England, I wouldn't have it any other way

Me too. Nothing better than football rivalry. City fans don't cheer on United just because they happen to be from the same area. As long as it doesn't get out-of-hand (like Egypt v Algeria), it all adds to the fun.

It's just a game (even though it's one I happen to like a lot).

Half an hour gone and, according to Alan Green (who isn't easily displeased) "England are atrocious". He just said "Surely we can beat Algeria" but he's from belfast! According to AG he can't pick out a single player who is playing well.

Lennon doing nothing. Rooney hasn't scored for England in ages, so having him and the non-scoring Heskey together these days is crazy. Lampard invisible again (but he can always shoot, so can see why he's on), with Gerrard struggling to get in on the match out on the left.

If I was Fabio, half-time sees Joe Cole on for Lampard (although Barry probably won't last, so he might delay that) and Crouch for Heskey. Cole out on the left, with Gerrard inside.

I'm Canadian-born, Scottish-bred and living in Egypt. Strange then to see a group with USA, England and Algeria in it. All the rivals in one handy package. Come on Slovenia!

Going to listen to 606 on Five Live now. England fans venting their fury to Allan Green.

What a load of rubbish, I now know how the Scots felt in 1974/78 :D

My thoughts on the match are here:
http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/blog.php?b=9092

Basically, it boils down to Capello not doing his homework. He doesn't know his best keeper, he can't cope with injuries and he is playing players based on reputation, not form.

(Hey, Scotland were unbeaten in 1974. '82, looking back, couldn't complain too much - Russia had some side then. '78? Nuff said!)

Well England haven't lost yet.

I reckon somethings going on behind the scenes that we don't know about.
