This week's issue

Re: This week's issue
That particular story was set away from Beanotown, there's a caption saying it's old Transylvania. The earlier story featuring Barack Obama was obviously set somewhere in the USA. But unless it's stated otherwise, all Beano strips should be assumed to be in Beanotown. Ratz wasn't power cut themed either - it's always dark in the sewers!
Re: This week's issue
Meebo and Zuky exist in a separate reality to the rest of the Beano characters (although I admit I don't think that's ever been expicitly stated in the strip). You'll notice that they show up in different places and time periods as a matter of course, unlike in strips like Fred's Bed where there has to be a device to make that happen.

Re: This week's issue
This week's Beano proclaims "100 pages of comic fun!" - no doubt a boast intended to help it stand out alongside the new Dandy - they may be the same publisher, but they're still rivals. It actually refers to the 68 page Fun-Size included as one of the gifts, and the normal 32-page comic.

Re: This week's issue
Meebo and Z was great very Itchy and Scratchy..
Loved Freds Bed and the punchline..

Also good Minnie..Bash Street..
Best of all Dennis with a great cover on The Beano not a reused panel! Also no more faded figures in the background..and more menacing!
Love the fact The Beano and Dandy are different and both are good in different ways..

Last week's Beano cover wasn't a blown up panel either. I guess they don't want to look bad next to the new Dandy!

Re: This week's issue
I was quite surprised that this week's Beano - boasting 40 pages - only contained 19 pages of comics! Put me rather in mind of the now-defunct Dandy Xtreme, it has to be said!
Re: This week's issue
Yeah, I must say I'm glad we didn't have to pay more than usual for those extra 8 pages, since they contained nothing but advertisements. Hardly "40 pages of fun". It's not even 30 pages.
I can think of two reasons for this:
1. Making up for the recent lack of advertising in the Dandy.
2. Using up paper stock, since they'll be about to switch to external printing.
And Peter, that Fred's Bed strip almost blew my mind... how the heck can Fred be inside his own head!?!

Re: This week's issue
this weeks £4 rip off issue does have a nice 2 page spread showing old xmas stories from the late 60's.beano and dandy should do this every week but make em big enough for us old folk to be able to actually read em properly.the beano dandy 60/70 years annuals have the same problem on some pages though as i ecently bought about 15 of these from amazon (1p each plus postage bargain)and they are so small or obscured by other images on top you cant read em.
