What comics did you buy today?
Re: What comics did you buy today?
Today, I won another four issues of Sparky (which includes another Sparky pin-up)
Plus at 26Pigs, I am purchasing 5 early issues of Whoopee (before it's first merger with Shiver and Shake), two issues of Buzz, one issue of Nipper and a Buster Library (the 1980's incarnation)
this lot will keep me going until I start again next week.

Getting onto Paypal is a bit of a `hurdle` but it is worth it when buying on E.Bay. Keep at it Bri! hopefully you'll get on!

Re: What comics did you buy today?
Slight spine damage, price cut out, and "To Nicola Christmas 1971 from Auntie Pat xx and Uncle Den xx" written on page 3 in biro, but apart from that, yeah, it's in decent condition. A perfectly good reading copy.
Re: What comics did you buy today?
I got a Beano Annual 1966 from a market stall a few weeks ago for £3. Just a bit of damage to the top of the spine, everything else fine. I thought that was quite a good bargain.
Some lovely cartoony animals in it. Especially a little mountain goat that pleads with Little Plum to let him go.

Viz, with The Parkie, which is still hilarious despite the fact "parkies" probably haven't existed for decades.
The newest 4 Commando comics, with a reprint of issue 10!
Combat Picture Annual 1962, a hardback book with some reprinted stories (I'm assuming, maybe they are new) from Combat Picture Library, as well as text stories and some small illustrated articles.
And Comic Heroes, with a few articles about British Comics. As I was half expecting it's writen by and for the 2000AD generation and is ready to write off everything that went before as worthless. I won't be making that mistake again. Comes with a free French comic though, the first story of the character XIII...

Re: What comics did you buy today?
I got the 1972 and 1973 Whizzer and Chips annuals from a cheap bookshop (4 quid each)..absolutely perfect copies.
Was amazed at how thick they are compared to later ones.

oh and a Perishers collection (Omnibus no. 3, the one with the cover pic of them in the front of a bus). bit battered and well read, but complete and readable, for only 1.50 was a good buy.

I've got the XIII computer game here somewhere. Unfortunately, there's a game-breaking bug when you're supposed to receive a grappling hook during a cutscene, but the game freezes. Wasn't able to get around that, so it ended up getting uninstalled.felneymike wrote:And Comic Heroes, with a few articles about British Comics.
