:evil: Grr, the thread got split. Just putting part of my comment back where it belongs.

This week's Bananaman contains a mistake. It features the Dragons from Dragon's Den - but includes James Caan instead of Hilary. The new series only started a couple of weeks ago, so the strip was probably drawn before the trailer revealing the line-up change aired.

Usually advertisers create their own ads, as opposed to being created by the magazine team... so knocking the Beano's adverts should probably go in a Beano thread?

Just got my Dandy....erm...which one of the Dragons in Bananaman is supposed to be James Caan? :?

The new style Dandy covers

The kid in me likes them, especially since they are bigger and appears to have more content. As an adult, I do understand the criticism but personally I still like it. Yes it is a bit of pain regarding collecting but there you go. :) It also shows that the comic is not getting complacent.

Cheryl's Mole

Yep. A ripoff of Phil's Finger but the kid in me likes it. I am a fan of the artist (even though I don't know his/her name) so any chance to see his/her work is okay with me.

Cuddles and Dimples

Will they ever come back both the kid and the adult ask?

I think it's drawn by Chris McGhie...the same artist who drew Phil's Finger!

Yes it is. It's not just a rip-off, it's blatantly reusing an idea the readers have already told the editor they don't want! Phil's Finger came a distant 4th out of 4 in the Strictly Come Laughing poll, and they think adding a celeb is going to make a difference?

About Cuddles and Dimples, they're in the annual.

i was surprised to see in tiny's temper he was reading an old beano when surley he should have read an old dandy.
And i had a quick flick through this years dandy annual in whs and art wise it seems to be the worst one (yes i know its not geared towards me or the nostalgia market but i know a few people who never buy the weeklies but still buy the annuals every year)yet as they seem to have different artists on the majority of the storys and they have changed bananamans origin from the nutty version plus the art on bananman in the annual makes me grateful for the art in the weekly comic which i am getting used to.As for puss and boots it doesnt even look like them and is the worst version i have seen art wise.it is a shame there is no more bash st kids & dennis the menace annuals any more as now there is only 2 annuals a year to buy now way down from at least 20 i used to buy every year in the 80s.i wont call viz which i buy an annual as that is never in the 1/2 price offers or £1.99-99p after christmas annuals offers

Some more peculiar celebrity/TV show choices for the front cover, bearing in mind the target readership, I thought, this week, with Antiques Roadshow/Fiona Bruce/Countdown.

Simon Cowell (again) gets the biggest space of course, though he isn't actually on the present X Factor series, is he? (Though he's probably back for the finals.)

You're thinking of Britain's Got Talent. He came back for the live shows but wasn't at the auditions. He won't be doing that for X Factor, because he'll be busy doing the US version.

I was thinking of The X Factor, presently on Saturday evenings, where I understood Cowell has been replaced by Gary Barlow. (I just assumed he might return for the final shows, but you've now informed me otherwise.)
