A brilliant issue full o' Halloweeny goodness!
Before I begin I'd just like to say two things,
1. I really like the Dandy's new slogan. Much better than something like "Totally Gross!" or "Proper Rank!"
2. Well done to all the artists who worked on this issue! Full of talent!
The front cover is eye-catching. Well done to Nigel Parkinson for such an amazing front cover and well done to the Dandy for making everything stand out! I wish the image drawn by NP had Dan and Korky on it instead of Ant and Dec though, would've been a lot better. I'm glad to see the "Celebs, Spoofs, Mickey Takes, Comics" strip gone and the character list along the bottom still there. I really like it!
Inside I'm haunted by a two page Kre-O advert! Curse you Kre-O!! Luckily when I turn the page I see a brilliant contents with Boo featuring drawn by Andy Fanton. I was surprised to see Harry Hill not as the first story though and instead a darn one-off celeb strip starring Ant and Dec. It could've worked just as well without the celeb input but at least it was a good story and had some good artwork as well...
Postman Prat was brilliant, I loved the storyline and thought the title panel was ace! Bananaman despite being one page was also funny and Wayne's artwork once again wowed me! I also loved the title panel, I love the simplistic Bananaman!
Stu Munro doing a Madvert was a nice surprise, very busy and dark! I liked it! 99 Genius Homework Excuses were once again genius, much better than Simples! 101 Ways to Use a Meerkat. Go Compare was awful but at least Turtle Wipeout and Watch this Space made me chortle.
Mr Meecher was funny, I loved Mr Meecher's lines and the "Almost as scary as the thought of our education being in your hands!" line. Will's stuff is always hilarious! Boo!'s back and amazing as ever! Two pages as well, a great treat! Some brilliant lines as well such as "A ghost? You look more like a furious blanket!" and "Kids today, floatin' about. Tsk." Also liked the cameos or Korky, Dave and Grampire! Also the guy Boo is attempting to get sweets off of looks like George! A possible relation perhaps?
Harry Hill was brilliant, yes, I can't believe it myself, I enjoyed Harry Hill. Liked the Anne Robinson jokes and the Zombie jokes. The final joke was also great, poor Anne! Rocky's Horror Show was... different... Quite violent actually, it was very good though, very Halloweeny!
Are you Ready for the Question, Noel? was terrible, no surprises there then! Count Slugula made me laugh, a shame it replaced Dave the Squirrel though, they're both good! (I wonder if Count Slugula is in next week's or whether he's a one-off like Count Snotula...), Ray Fears is the second to last one! Noooo!! Very funny, made me laugh. The Bogies was hilarious! I really like Nigel's stuff, always funny!
Korky the Cat was good up until the joke. Not funny at all. Desperate Dan was brilliant! Very funny, I loved the Centre of the Earth being full of socks! Nuke Noodle was very strange, I didn't really get it but it was funny in places. Snoop Dawg was not funny and I really didn't like how such an awful strip replaced Jibber & Steve! FOOLS! Igg and Ook was good and was quite Halloweeny, Knock! Knock! on the other hand, wasn't. Oh and it was terrible.
George VS Dragon was hilarious and it was great to see Wirlin back with some stupid tricks! Next Week looks good, I hope it'll be a good follow up from this week's amazing issue!
Notable missing strips: Pre-Skool Prime Minister, My Own Genie, Dave the Squirrel, Jibber & Steve (4 BRILLIANT STRIPS!! At least we still have George VS Dragon, Postman Prat, Nuke Noodle and Desperate Dan to keep us laughing as well as good mini strips like Igg and Ook, Ray Fears and Watch this Space.)
