Sorry. Since the episode had only aired within the last hour at the time, I assumed it wouldn't already have been posted!Jay wrote:Go to page 13 of this thread. I am most upset no one noticed.

Re: Comics on TV
When did that bit happen? I watched Doctor Who tonight and didn't spot that at all? Or was it in the first five minutes? As one of our cats manage to "switch" the computer off!
I started to say something sensible but my parents took over my brain!

Not TV exactly, but if anyone goes to see the (absolutely brilliant) film of 'Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy' watch out for the chap seen reading a copy of Jackie!

The Two Ronnies series 4, episode 1, originally broadcast January 1975.

Re: Comics on TV
The Beano and Dandy were both mentioned at the start of today's Pointless on BBC One.

Didn't quite catch the start, but the reference in today's show was as they were introducing the contestants, so it was probably the returning pair. I'll take a look at that link tomorrow.

These Network DVDS are very good for spotting the old weeklies. Just been watching the essential viewing that is Robert's Robots Series Two and the episode 'Gastronomics Anonymous' (9th December 1974) has a lengthy sequence on a bus where a boy sits blowing gum bubbles and reading Marvel UK's 'The Avengers (weekly) Starring Shang Chi Master of Kung Fu.'
This one, I think, from July that year:

I don't have the technology to screen grab but I'm sure this information will have everyone rushing to buy their own copy of the DVD.

Re: Comics on TV
You don't have a DVD drive in your computer? Play the DVD (Windows Media Player should do), use the Print Screen button, paste into MS Paint, save.
Re: Comics on TV
or use a free player on your computer such as VLC (http://www.videolan.org/vlc/) to play the DVD and it has a screencap feature which will save the image straight to a jpg image.Digifiend wrote:You don't have a DVD drive in your computer? Re: Comics on TV
That too. I just mentioned Media Player because it comes bundled with Windows, so he should have it unless he's using Linux or a Mac.

From British film No Kidding (1961). There's a Topper on view, with a few unidentifiable (to me,anyway) comics scattered around.

Re: Comics on TV
Another British film, this time it's Please Turn Over, 1960 (I got a box set of Leslie Phillips DVDs for Christmas!)
Here we can see copies of Tiger, Eagle and Girl. There's another comic but it's obscured.

A slightly better view of the fourth comic, but I still can't make out what it is - possibly a back cover?

At the far right we can see another copy of Tiger, plus a Swift. I just noticed a Jack and Jill under the unknown comic on the left.
