Could you please raise your nose above your recently-acquired 60s issue of The Wizard, or whatever annual your daughter has kindly but reluctantly released for your perusal, and tell me exactly how you think your answer to my question actually answers my question. Also, may I suggest that you place a severe limit on the number of Wows you utter per day, otherwise your new neighbours up there in Pict land will start to wonder just what kind of species has moved in next door.

Believe me, a wow or three is more acceptable than some of the language that can be heard in this wee toon!

As to posting on the thread, it is quite simple. I am a speed reader. So I will read a bit, do some jobs for a bit and then peruse the web for a bit. The joy is in the variety. Plus stepping away from the comics for a little while means that the aniticipation is increased and I enjoy them that little bit more.

Well, went to the Glasgow Comic Mart for the first time and had a fine old time chatting with Paw Broon. So watch out for the resurrection of the overseas reprint thread and a big of a dig about 50's comics that have not had as much coverage as some of the other big circulation comics have had.

But back to the chase, I bought the MacBam Brothers Special, Amongst The Stars issues 1 to 3 (Indie publication), Eagle 145 and the Daily Record "A Century of Laughs".

And despite the mountain of stuff Colin carted to back to The Kingdom, he still felt he had to buy more at Glasgow today. It was good fun and the mart was busy with lots of small press, golden age, silver age, some British, dvd's, and some downright wierd stuff.
I bought a couple of issues of House of Mystery with the Martian Manhunter, a nice Pat Boyette drawn Jungle Jim Charlton comic, an ACG Forbidden Worlds and a Fawcett Six Gun Heroes from 1950.

My mum brought me a present back after visiting her mother (my Grandma) in Norwich - the 1969 Dandy Book, £2 from a bric-a-brac shop. Some damage to the spine, but it's not often you see annuals that age in a shop. There was 1950s Beano Book in similar condition there as well, but she didn't buy that as it was £10. Would need to be in decent condition for that price.

If I'd had it a few weeks ago I'd have been able to answer the question about the gunpowder gloves Desperate Dan strip, which is the first story.

Found a bunch of annuals in a charity shop, so got three Warlords. Wasn't sure if I needed the Hotspurs and Victors. Get home and of course I did. Maybe next week?

I also went to the Glasgow mart today but unfortunately never meet anyone from here, at least not to my knowledge. Maybe next time.

Picked up the 1982 and 1985 Christmas Beano's, a couple of Eagle's, four Doctor Who magazines I had missed and 3 issues of Charlton's Mysteries of Unexplored Worlds.

The Phoenix and the latest 4 Commandos. Apparently Commando have "done something different" on issues with "a yellow stripe"... but they all looked and felt totally normal to me XD
Also got "Man in Motor Car" and "Nibz on Motoring", books of compiled cartoons from 1967 and 1980 respectively. The former concentrating a lot on cars going wrong, and the owners doing their own repairs. The latter is incredibly sexist!

Who had the Beanos as I did not see any?

Picked up Broons/Oor Wullie Fabulous 40s book for a dustbin lid in Deptford Flea Market on Friday. Wasn't sure if I already had it but was quite happy to risk a quid. Having looked through it I'm still not sure if I have it already as it doesn't look familiar but that doesn't mean anything.

Hey, chrisb, I didn't see the Beanos either.
Colin and I were both there and you probably did see me and talk to me at my wee table. The venue is so small it would be difficult to not visit every stall. I was right opposite Peter Lennon, the guy with all the c.d.'s. You only live just along the road from me and a couple of miles from Colin's work.
Perhaps next time? But the next mart coincides with a big comics fair at the SECC, I think, so not sure that their might not be a bit of confusion.

I think i probably did speak to you at some point paw, I'll introduce myself next time.
As for the Beano's, they were on the last stall on the left as you come through the door. They were the only two as far as I could see and I was there just before eleven so that's likely why you and Colin didn't see them. I think the dealer had just put them out when I snapped them up.

Yes, I know who you mean but as I was at the coo's tale getting set up - as usual - I didn't have a chance to look round the other stalls till later. As for Colin, he didn't pitch up till much later. I'll try to find out more about the next mart and the SECC do. There is also the big 2 day event at Braehead, in August, I think. I'll post more when Wee John sends me the details.
