There is no possible misinterpretation of what Digi has already said. However, with his 6000+ posts, it needs to be acknowledged that he is a stalwart of the threads, and his harmless enthusiasm deserves our respect. To expect total accuracy of any poster is just too demanding and unreasonable. Digi and I have, from time to time, even needed to correct each other, but we've fortunately managed it without much aggression from me. His posting style and content is legendary, so why must we insist on his changing it? Wouldn't it be a bit like expecting Sisyphus's boulder to remain at the top of the hill? You carry on, Digi.

I would refuse to answer that question until it is put in a more polite way. But then I am the stubbonest man on earth. In fact I would never answer that question just to show utter contempt toward the poser of it.

I hope it sells well enough to make a fib out of it's title.

It's referred to as the "last ever Dandy summer special". If it sells well enough for another one to be done next year, it would no longer be the "last ever", ergo, this year's being called that would be a fib. Simple enough, right?

Wouldn't it be more pertinent to have waited until next summer before making a comment like that?

My question was straight to the point for a reason, and Digifiend knows why that would be.

Wrong. It wouldn't be a 'fib' (ie a lie) it would be in error (ie a mistake). The words "lie" and "mistake" are not interchangeable.

These ARE coming out as I have been on the phone to DC Thomson today. The Beano special is a WH SMITH exclusive and will be released on Wednesday 24th July. The Last Ever Dandy Summer Special should be out by the end of this month. So neither magazines have been released yet. I also spoke to the person selling them on eBay and they told me that they bought them from a car boot last Sunday. The Beano themselves have also told me that they're not released yet, via Twitter. Really curious to see them both especially the Dandy special. I wonder if it will include any new material?...

Digifiend wrote:the final weekly issue was not the last ever print Dandy after all.
This statement is clearly incorrect.
MMi wrote:Summer specials have always been different beasts to weekly titles.
This statement is obviously correct.

In my opinion, this request is unnecessarily confrontational. Surely a question such as Are you not confusing the weekly issue with the Summer Special, Digi? would have sufficed.

This assertion is making a different point from the one MMi objected to. Maybe due simply to a wish to avoid admitting a mistake, a difficult temptation to resist, as none of us like to be caught with our pants down.

That's a massive contradiction right there. How the hell can they have been bought from a car boot sale when they're not even out yet? :headbash:

That's exactly what I wondering, which is why I rang up to find out if they were out yet. But anyway I'm only passing on what I've been told.

Regarding their availability on eBay, here's a stab in the dark... were they printed by BGP? Would explain how copies could be in the wild in Oxfordshire...

People are responsible for what they post. It's not like verbal communication where a slip of the tongue could happen before one has revised it. After 6,000 posts you'd think accuracy would be down to a fine art, especially from someone who's always quick to point out perceived errors himself.

You've misquoted me, Phoenix. The second quote above is the one I wasn't happy with. The weekly Dandy is no more, and now the Summer Special Dandys are no more - with the Annual still continuing with the Digital Dandy put on hold. That's fair enough.

What I didn't like was Digifiend's implication that DCT are seeing how sales of the Last Summer Special go and then go back on their 'word' that it was the last ever, by producing another one next year. Plus he has absolutely no proof or any track record of DCT ever doing that. It's disgusting, and he knows it.

That's a huge 'if' Digifiend. What proof do you have that DCT are intending to do another summer special next year if they're quite clearly saying that this is the last one?

Absolute poppycock.

I can make 7000+ posts all saying 'jam', doesn't make me a stalwart of forums, or for jam for that matter.

I was making sure I read correctly what he said, giving him an opportunity to redefine, edit or take back his comment that DCT are prepared to give out a big fat 'fib' to the consumer base to meet their own financial gains.

His comment has no basis, foundation or proof. But you're prepared to ignore that because he's written more than six thousand posts?

What he has actually said is tantamount to libel.
