Re: Characters that like there food...
No trousers, regardless of their pattern, Peter, could possibly have made Bunter look slim. If we factor in his glasses, we can easily see why he was so frequently referred to as The Fat Owl Of The Remove.Peter Gray wrote:Billy Bunter those chequed trousers did not make him look slim!!

And Bernard Briggs as both were always on the edge of hunger.
I started to say something sensible but my parents took over my brain!

Re: Characters that like there food...
You forgot Fatty Fudge from Minnie the Minx. Also Greedy Pigg from the Dandy and Wimpy from Popeye who liked his hamburgers. I remember the puppet series Space Patrol (which became a comic strip in TV Comic) and the Martian character (Husky?) had the catch phrase "I'm hungry" to which the Venusian Slim would reply "You're always thinking of your stomach" - this is in my memory from the 1960s so correct me for any mistakes.
There was also a panel in The Nervs that showed the lead character (Fatty?) having food going into his mouth via a conveyor belt. It make me wonder how many characters called Fatty there were in British comics. Was there a fat kid in The Group? The Banana Bunch?

Re: Characters that like there food...
The Banana Bunch does have a Fatty - and he looks almost identical to Bash Street's Fatty, some of the 90s annuals have him dressed exactly the same too, except for long trousers instead of shorts.
Also, Greedy Pigg isn't the only Dandy fatso, there's also Tom Tum.

Viz has had a few over the years...
-Fat Sod
-Tubby Johnson - "He's fat and he doesn't give a ****!"
-Tubby Round
-Billy Bloater - "It's me glands!"
-Tubby Tucker, the Big Fat... Person
-Mr. "Eating" Charlesworth
And on the other end of the spectrum, there's Anna Reksick!
And from another comic titled Spit, there was Fat Lass.

Pie-face was a fun character for the Dennis gang! even sleeps in a pie shaped bed..
Re: Characters that like there food...
^Yeah, he may not be fat, but he certainly qualifies as a food lover.
TwoHeadedBoy, I can't believe Fat Slags isn't on your list.

They would've been, but "eating" isn't their main trait - they're more defined by their promiscuity, the fact that they're massively overweight just makes it funnier

Re: Characters that like there food...
I remember a one-off in "Oink" comic in 1987 - "Greedy Gorb - He'd Eat Anything" which he does, and his mother asks when he comcs home how the diet is going.
Didn't Fatty Fudge have a one-off strip of his own in the Beano on an occasion?

Re: Characters that like there food...
Aside from Fatty in The Banana Bunch, there were a few other foodies in the Beezer:
"Hungry Hoss" from 1981 - I think it started from when the Beezer went tabloid. Drawn by Bill Ritchie, about an always hungry horse.
Pop from "Pop Dick & Harry" always had a big appetite & eat more than his fair share at theboys' expense - so they'd come up with schemes either to counter this or to use to their advantage, with varying success.
Knuck's appetite in the "Badd Lads" would sometimes be an issue for Boss & Fingers - either his eating got them into trouble, or they'd bully him into diets, but Knuck would eventually get the upper hand.
In "Young Sid The Copper's Kid" PC99 was often trying to illegally eat when on duty & trying not to be caught by the Sarge - made more harder with Sid about.

You're probably thinking of the movie parodies he did. It was a series rather than a one-off.DavidKW wrote:Didn't Fatty Fudge have a one-off strip of his own in the Beano on an occasion?
