Looking for certain Mandy issues

Hello! I have a collection of Mandy comics covering the period from 1990-1992 (including the first 52 Mandy & Judys) but there are a few gaps. These have bugged me for over 20 years now, because they included the end of some stories where I wanted to know how they ended.

Might anyone with a collection at a similar time be able to help me?

Would I be better off looking for the issues in which they ended, or just listing the stories themselves?

Any advice would be welcome, and I can return the favour if anyone needs issues that I have. I have digitised them all.

There are several members who would be able to help you with the endings of the serials in Mandy and M&J in those years, mellycat. To simplify things for us your best bet is to list the titles of the relevant serials, and to include the issue numbers of the ones that are missing from your collection.

The ones I'm missing are:
Mandy Issues 1229, 1239, 1240, 1248, 1251, 1254, 1258, 1261, 1264, 1265
Mandy & Judy Issues 9, 33, 48
(I'm more interested in the Mandys rather than the Mandy & Judys)

The ones I have are:
Mandy & Judy Issues 1-52 minus those above
Mandy Issue 1216
Mandy Issues 1222-1266 minus those above
Bunty 1695, 1697, 1710, 1750

I will now go through and figure out all the story titles that ended in those missing issues, brb!

I myself would like to know how The Truth about Wendy ended. I think it was somewhere around 1989. Thanks for any help!

I would love to read the end of these stories:

The girl they love to hate (about a tennis player who played the 'bad girl' to earn money for her dad) ended in issue 1229
Who is Sad Sally (about a dumb but beautiful orphan) ended in 1239 or 1240
The portrait of pauline (about a selfish girl whose portrait shows how horrible she's been) ended in 1239 or 1240
Daughter of the house (about 2 girls switched at birth) ended in 1239 or 1240
Margie in the Middle (about a girl who wants to paint but her parents think it's a waste of time) ended in 1248
Beryl's Birds (about a girl whose whistle can control birds) ended in 1248
Selfish Susan (about a girl who pretends to be deaf) began in 1261 and ended after 1266 I'm not sure when
Slave to love (about a girl slaving for the sister of a boy she fancies) ended in 1261
Birds of a feather (about a girl trying to push others out of a foster family) ended in 1264 or 1265
Freda Who (about a girl from the future) ended after 1266, I'm not sure when.
Pat the Peacemaker (about a girl who can solve others problems but not her own) ended in Mandy & Judy #33

I can supply five of these wants, beginning with these three stories that finished #1239.

Both of these stories ended in #1269 (last ever Mandy!). That's all I can help with.

As far as the serials that Tammyfan has not covered are concerned, mellycat, I can add the following information. Beryl's Birds ended in 1250 not 1248, and Birds Of A Feather ended in 1265 not 1264. I don't know how either of them ended as the task I set myself last week in the British Library was only to list the issue numbers and dates of the serials in the issues of Mandy that I don't have in my collection, and I only completed that at 7.45 pm, just 15 minutes before the library closed. On the other hand, I do have 1229 so I will scan the last instalment of The Girl They Love To Hate!.

Regarding your missing M&Js, mellycat, I don't have issue 9, and my copy of 33 has pages missing in the middle, so I can't say for certain whether any serials end in them. However, two do end in 48 (Apr. 11 1992), your other missing issue, these being Rosa's New Friend and The Girl Who Hated Horses!. First the fantasy serial Rosa's New Friend.

I remember Birds of a Feather ending with Birdie pushing all the kids out except our heroine, but Birdie is working on her. Then Birdie's parents turn up and she just takes off with them. The parents are so shocked at this that they wake up to what Birdie was doing. Dad quoting an old saying about cuckoos has the heroine realise Birdie was the cuckoo in their nest.
