If i won say the euromillions or a nice rollover i would try and buy complete runs of beano,dandy, buster, and prob stuff like victor,battle warlord of which i have absolute zero issues of those 3 and things like amazing spider man,xmen, batman superman and of course a big house to store them all.

This was more or less how my mind was meandering. The reality would be very different because, apart from trying to complete my collection of story papers for girls, I can't think of anything else that I want, and I wouldn't really need them anyway with the British Library available. It would only be houses, a quality four/five-bedroom detached with some land in or around Southfields or Wimbledon, and another similar one in the south of Cornwall, so that I would be able to shuttle between my two sons, their partners, and my grandchildren. I would need to duplicate all my reference material, but I could have all my boys' papers and half my books in one house, all my girls' papers and the rest of my books in the other house. Ah, 'such stuff as dreams are made on.' (pace W.S. for adapting your words, and meaning)

If I won the jackpot, I would try to buy every comic from the past and create my own library because (from memory) Phoenix couldn't find a couple of Summer Specials from the British Library which, essentially, makes it incomplete. At the end of the day, before execution, we do like to be complete, don't we?

Did anyone else catch the Dandy issue 2 with free gift (a jumping frog, minus a front leg) going for nine and a half grand or best offer? It's gone now. Most expensive comic I've seen go on ebay.

Yes, Geoff, it was Bunty Summer Specials I was seeking. Of the handful that the British Library extracted from storage for me I only needed those for 2001-2003. I have 26 actuals so I still need to know the page-by-page contents of 12 of the 42 that Thomsons produced. I did win all the ones from Phil Shrimpton's various auctions that at the time I needed. I seem to remember asking on the forum at some point if anyone could let me have the information I wanted but there was no response. I have an eBay search out for them but in the meantime it's a case of paciencia y barajar (patience and shuffle the cards) as Miguel de Cervantes once wrote in Don Quijote.

An interesting thread, particularly as I am considering selling some old 2000AD issues that I haven't looked at in 25 years. I have absolutely no clue what they are actually worth - my comic supplier suggested that they would give 20p each for them. Assuming that comic suppliers are like car dealers or "we buy any car", they are worth rather more than that - maybe 40p or 50p each, but that's just guessing.

I'd be very grateful for some sensible guidance on what they're worth. I have an unbroken run from (maybe) issue 500 to (definitely) issue 1000 - all read once and then filed in a box unbagged. If there were any free gifts, they are still attached.

i'd say 2000ad 500-1000 are the most common and easiest of all to find as ebay full of them and i picked up that lot very cheap. 20p each from acomic dealer is good in my mind as it all adds up and ive known comic dealers to only offer 2-10p per comic

I agree with Bri that 20p a comic isn't a bad offer. In May last year, progs 500-600 sold on ebay for £25 and in October a bundle of 500 between 100 and 1000 sold for £104. full runs between 800-1000 have been sold a few times in the last couple of years and have only achieved about £20.
