The Dandy Xmas Double Issue

Post by Mr. Sheridan »

I've just been to buy The Dandy Christmas double-issue... what can I say... this is a thing of wondrous beauty!

Everybody has excelled in making this, in my opinion, the best-looking Dandy issue since the 1980s. Not only is it the most colourful comic I've ever seen come out of the DC Thomson stable, it has a stiff cardboard cover with a gleaming gold logo... and feels more like an annual!

It's packed full of beautifully drawn strips. Special mentions must go to Harry Hill's chaotic celebrity New Year's Eve party (have Amy Winehouse or Katie Price ever appeared in The Dandy before!!), an 8-page all-star Panto, a new strip by Phil Corbett about furry action man called 'Bear Thrills'... plus lots of Desperate Dan, Korky, Bananaman, Pre-Skool Prime Minister, Goerge vs Dragon and a gorgeously funny Postman Prat... Marvo the Wonder Chicken is even back too!

I absolutely love it! The new direction the comic has take in recent weeks has paid off in spectacular style. Well done to everybody who has made this happen.

Er, if you mean 23, 24 and 25, they're between 22 and 26, just as you'd expect. And in the right order, too.

Here you go...

Got it from WHSmith. The cover didn't match the one they posted on Facebook and Dandy.com - the picture is reversed and the logo yellow and not gold on that one. Whoops.

By the way, Marvo was probably drawn months ago before Nigel knew that he was being dropped. It simply wasn't used before Xtreme ended because of the Christmas theme.

What a brilliant issue.

The comic just goes from strength to strength with this argueably the best Xmas issue ever.

Who would have believed it 12 months ago when you had Xtreme's Christmas issue in your hands.

Lew i just love the style you use in the Dandy..
also love the opening panel at the top..Postman Prat and Kids Cops are just the tops..

Finding the Christmas pigs was harder this time.which is good..

Liked the George and the dragon version of the famous poem..liked the squirrel sub plot..

Still more to read yet...it is like a Dandy annual.which I can imagine will be brilliant next year if it is like this..

Also a naughty reference to Desperate Dans name at the beginning!!

Thanks. It's fun to do those title pictures, especially the Christmassy ones.

Hooray! Thank you, Peter! Personally, I think Dave the Squirrel now warrants his own series! :D

On a side-note, I'm REALLY impressed with the Christmas Dandy - it looks lovely, and everyone involved has done really sterling work for it.

It's more packed-full than Santa's gut!

Mcolls charged me £2.50 for the first of the new Dandy and I didn't notice. How I laughed yesterday when the Christmas issue scanned through at £1.50. What goes around comes around!
Like everyone else, love the new look and especially the Xmas Monster Comic (harks back to the early annuals) for me it was like being 10 again. Long may it continue...
