Was anyone else utterly confused by the Beano's cover this week? New look Danny but with no info inside as to what the hell he was supposed to be painting red, blue and yellow.

Painting the town red means having a good time, and going wild like he was with the paint. The yellow and blue were probably just extras to make it funnier.

I wondered if it was the first non-Dennis cover since Dennis took over from Biffo all those years ago.

I think it is. Although why they'd do that is a mystery! The artwork is nothing to do with the story inside, and Danny is a revamped version. Confusing.

Page 3 of that issue was obviously designed as a cover but relegated inside for some reason.

Can anyone from DCT explain why the Danny image was used as a cover?

Wonder who will be on the cover next week.......was Danny drawn by Tom Paterson.......he has done great covers for Whoopee...Whizzer and chips and Buster........

Its like the Beano is going a bit Dandy with film features and other mag features..............

I thought it was nice for a change.......a new editor in charge.......
The Beexer and Topper comic had different covers I wonder if this his contribution to keep the comic fresh and vibrent..

I think this weeks cover was more David Parkins style. I wonder if there is another one next week :D I'd like to see a Roger the Dodger one by a different artist. And more pages for the money

I think Danny was wearing trousers because paint ball you need to wear clothes to protect your body....even in comic land..:)

If this is all leading to the tentative Beano revamp, and there is a slim possibility, or even just a revamp of the characters, I'd hope Roger is drastically changed. Roger to me always seems the character no-one can be bothered to do stuff to, third behind Dennis and Minnie. Shake him up a bit - divorced parents? A sibling (didn't he have a sister very early on?) Just make him less of an imprint of Dennis with cunning.

Plus they got rid of Roger's trademark tie, and his shorts. And he used to have a blue shirt in the olden days, not red. Bring back Geezer, ex-Beezer editor!!!!

Sure, Alan Digby was Beezer Editor once upon a long ago...

I'm pretty sure, incidentally, that this week's Beano cover is by Steve Horrocks. Style matches, and it's definitely not David Parkin!

I saw this Danny drawing on Euan's desk a long while back, and to me, it definitely looked like David Parkins. Check the shoes.

They got rid of Roger's crow a long time ago, what was the reason for it, was it a very long vacation? :?

It's back to the Dennis strip. (And it is a strip, not a full page picture, which makes a nice change. It certainly stands out on the shelves).

So the mystery of last weeks cover remains... ;-)
